District Superintendent
Dear Wayne-Finger Lakes BOCES Colleagues,
It has been an exciting and informative few weeks as I transition into my role as District Superintendent of W-FL BOCES. Thank you for the warm welcome and messages of encouragement. As I shared last week, you can see some highlights from my 1st week HERE.
To ensure a smooth transition, I am reaching out to communicate the goals of my entry plan; to listen, learn and lead with intentionality and purpose in order to build and cultivate trusting relationships. I believe organizations can only move at the speed of TRUST. Therefore, I plan to take the necessary time needed to understand our traditions, systems, and the passionate people who make up the Wayne-Finger Lakes BOCES.
It is my expectation that, together, we will continue to respect tradition, while leading forward to write this next chapter for our Wayne-Finger Lakes BOCES. Working side-by-side with our component school districts, we will continue to create innovative new programs and services to meet the needs of our learners and 25 component districts, for the best interests of our learners and their families. In partnership with the Wayne-Finger Lakes Board of Education, I plan to strengthen our business partnerships to provide our learners with increased opportunities for hands-on learning and career exploration. Creating a coordinating effort with our community organizations, higher education institutions and agriculture partners will remain a high priority to provide learners increased access to emerging fields of study.
We are 25 Unified, with one overarching goal—to provide the best possible opportunities for all learners. Together, we are always looking ahead to create and sustain the services and programs that meet the needs of our students, staff, districts, partners and staff. We are proud of the progress we have made together. I recognize and appreciate our dedicated employees who continue to rise to every occasion.
Everything we accomplish is for one purpose—to create a better future for our learners. As your new District Superintendent, I am committed to keeping our focus on what matters most — educating our learners and building trusting relationships within our BOCES, our vibrant communities and as an advocate and partner with NYSED.
In order for our students to remain at the heart of all we do, I have identified four priorities that will guide my listening, learning and leading entry plan process to ensure our BOCES’ commitments align with our systems, practices and programs using the following objectives:
- BUILDING TRUST
- CREATING A CULTURE OF INNOVATION AND CUSTOMER SERVICE
- CULTIVATING A CULTURE OF EXCELLENCE, ACCESS AND OPPORTUNITY FOR ALL LEARNERS
- REVIEW, ANALYZE DATA, PROGRAMS AND SYSTEMS
In gratitude and partnership,
Lynne C. Rutnik
