The Holiday season allows us to reflect on all the things we're thankful for, and the things that are truly worth celebrating. In today's throwback, we are showcasing the hard work of the seniors that come through the doors of our Tech and Career Centers each and every year. This aerial photo is from the Twenty-Seventh Annual Student Recognition Ceremony at the Wayne Technical and Career Center. Each year this event celebrates the hard work and accomplishments of seniors in the region that have successfully completed their technical and career programs.
50 Years of Making Success Possible
Check back every Thursday as we dive into the BOCES archive to celebrate 50 years of Making Success Possible!
At Wayne-Finger Lakes BOCES, our faculty, staff, support staff and non-instructional team members work daily to promote our mission and move further toward our goal of Making Success Possible for the students, families and districts we serve. We know that Making Success Possible comes in a number of different ways, sometimes from the very students we teach! In today's Throwback Thursday feature from January of 1989, Betsy Bove, a Practical Nursing student, gives the gift of life at a Blood Drive at the Wayne Technical and Career Center. If that's not Making Success Possible we don't know what is!
With chilly weather settling in, we're thinking about all things warm and cozy! In today's #ThrowbackThursday photo, a senior from the Finger Lakes Technical and Career Center (formerly the Finger Lakes Occupational School - FLOS) stirs a a giant tank of chicken noodle soup at the VA Medical Center in Canandaigua with supervision from the chief of food production, circa 1979. Seniors in the Food Service program, now known as the Culinary Arts program, would work and learn on site at the VA Hospital two days a week, both in the kitchen and in the dining room, gaining valuable hands-on experience in the food industry.
Today may be Thanksgiving, but we couldn't possibly forget that it's also #ThrowbackThursday, which means we've got a throwback photo to share! In the spirit of the Holiday, we've pulled an archived photo of employees enjoying a dinner together and we're sure they're reminiscing and sharing laughs just as we hope you all are today!
With the Holiday season quickly approaching, we're pulling an archived photo from a celebration in the early 2000's to get our BOCES family and friends in the Holiday spirit! Pictured here is Lorry Whipple who retired from her position as the Director of the Upstate Institute for School Boards & Staff Development in July of 2020. In her 37 years at W-FL BOCES, Lorry worked alongside many current and former employees in her role, and served as the Social Crew Captain initiating and hosting events for a number of years!
