Adult PN Students Help Those In Need

Every year, the Wayne-Finger Lakes BOCES LPN students and staff adopt a family for Christmas. This year marks their third year being involved in Wanda’s Kids, which was started by the charity's namesake, Wanda; a woman from Newark who works at Wayne County Nursing Home as an assistant nursing director. Wanda saw a need to help those who are struggling in the community and so the organization was born.

Last year the LPN program was able to help a family of seven with five girls, ranging in age from 4 to 12 years old. They filled the trunk and back seat of a car with snacks, Christmas dinner supplies, a gas card, hygiene products and lots of toys for the five girls. This year the program adopted a single mother with a 14 year old girl, and three boys ages 10, 7 and 3. Students donate what they can and every little bit helps a family in need during this special time of year!
