General Equivalency Diploma (GED©)

High School Equivalency (HSE)

Our High School Equivalency (HSE) Program allows eligible students to prepare and earn a high school equivalency diploma at no cost to you. HSE classes prepare students to take the GED® exam.  The GED® Test is the new High School Equivalency (HSE) Exam in New York State. The TASC Test™ was discontinued on December 31, 2021. Scores from passing TASC subtests (2014-2021) and passing GED subject tests (2002-2013) can be used toward meeting the requirements for an HSE diploma. GED had previously served as the NYS HSE exam from the 1940’s through 2013.

Wayne-Finger Lakes BOCES will continue to help adults prepare and earn their high school equivalency diploma. In the classes, instruction is based on the content of the test, which includes Math, Reading, Writing, Social Studies and Science. Students are given a math and reading assessment to determine their levels using the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE).

HSE classes are available to adults 21 years and older who live in the Ontario, Wayne, Seneca and Yates counties. To start classes, simply stop at one of our locations during classroom hours and let the teacher know you are ready to get your diploma!!
