Test Assessing Secondary Completion TASC - formerly known as GED
High School Equivalency (HSE)
Our High School Equivalency (HSE) Program allows eligible students to prepare and earn a high school equivalency diploma at no cost to you. HSE classes prepare students to take the Test Assessing Secondary Completion (TASC, formerly known as GED).
As of January 2014, New York State replaced the GED (General Educational Development) with the Test Assessing Secondary Completion (TASC) as the exam used to earn a New York State High School Equivalency Diploma.
Wayne-Finger Lakes BOCES will continue to help adults prepare and earn their high school equivalency diploma. In the classes, instruction is based on the content of the test, which includes Math, Reading, Writing, Social Studies and Science. Students are given a math and reading assessment to determine their levels using the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE).
HSE classes are available to adults 21 years and older who live in the Ontario, Wayne, Seneca and Yates counties. To start classes, simply stop at one of our locations during classroom hours and let the teacher know you are ready to get your diploma!!
When you are ready to take your exam, we will help you fill out your paperwork and submit to the test center location of your choice.
