ARP Act Higher Education Emergency Relief Funds
Wayne-Finger Lakes BOCES received student aid funding under section 2003(7) of the American Rescue Plan. This program, with some changes, provides supplemental student aid funds to the CARES Act section 18004(a)(1) program. Wayne-Finger Lakes BOCES signed and returned to the Department of Education a Certification and Agreement as required under the CARES Act section 18004(a)(1) program. We acknowledge that by drawing down the ARP student aid funds, our institution agrees to be bound by the conditions set forth in the ARP Supplemental Agreement including using 100 percent of these student aid funds to provide emergency aid grants to Practical Nursing students.
Wayne-Finger Lakes BOCES will receive $489,314 through the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund III (ARP/HEERF III) to be disbursed in the form of emergency grants to Practical Nursing students. These funds are provided as an emergency grant for expenses related to any component of the student's cost of attendance or for emergency costs that arise due to Coronavirus. Eligible expenses include tuition, food, housing, health care (including mental health) or childcare.
Eligibility
All practical nursing students enrolled for the 2021-22 school year are eligible to receive an emergency grant.
Determination of Awards
84% of the ARP student emergency grant funds are designated for Pell-eligible students. The amount of the student emergency grant was based on the student's expected family contribution from their 2021-22 FAFSA. 34 students were identified as Pell-eligible with the maximum award amount being $7,113.00.
16% of the ARP student emergency grant funds are designated non-Pell eligible students. The remaining grant fund amount was awarded to 15 students with the award amount being $2,245.00.
