Digital Equity and Inclusion

In this session, administrators will gain an understanding of digital inclusion, digital equity & digital literacy.  Participants will have an opportunity to explore and discuss correlations between broadband access & poverty while taking a critical look at if their current policies and practices are unknowingly creating inequities for the students they serve. Participants will also develop a sense of local & state efforts to promote digital equity & inclusion.

Promoting Student-Centered Learning Environments with the Culturally Responsive-Sustaining Education Framework

The New York State Department of Education’s Culturally Responsive-Sustaining (CR-S) Framework helps educators create student-centered learning environments that: affirm racial, linguistic and cultural identities; prepare students for rigor and independent learning, develop students’ abilities to connect across lines of difference; elevate historically marginalized voices; and empower students as agents of social change. This session will offer an introduction to the four principles of the CR-S framework and discuss the guidelines for various stakeholder groups.
