Enrollment Process



Our Application Process:

If you are a current eighth-grader in one of the participating W-FL BOCES component districts, you are invited to apply to the Wayne-Finger Lakes Pathways in Technology Early College High School (W-FL P-TECH).

Our school is committed to enrolling a diverse student population reflective of the geographic area served by W-FL BOCES.

See your school counselor about application deadlines, as each district is on their own timeline.

The typical application process is as follows:

  • PTECH representative will present to your district's eighth grade class about the program
  • interested students will tour PTECH and participate in an interview
  • interested students will obtain an application from their school counselor and submit it by the provided deadline
    • applications due within 4 weeks from PTECH presentation date (extended for holidays/breaks)
  • PTECH will provide district with acceptance recommendations
  • District will notify students and families about who will be attending PTECH by end of May

Welcome to P-TECH!

Eligible students

Because of the way the curriculum is structured to allow for acceleration into college courses, only current eighth-graders are eligible to apply to P-TECH and students must enroll in the school their freshman year of high school. Students must currently be enrolled in school at a participating district and pass the eighth grade.

P-TECH is for a scholars who is committing to enter not only high school but college in 9th grade. PTECH scholars are:
  • Are motivated by personal success and are coachable
  • Value learning and are academically motivated
  • Have diversity mindset, respect others and can work with others
  • Are self-directed, self-reflecting and have a growth mindset.
  • Demonstrated  readiness for Regents level courses
  • Is interested in STEM and likes STEM topics and learning
Application requirements

The application process involves getting recommendations from two teachers and your school counselor, along with completing the application that includes providing responses to questions and a form parents complete. Applicants will also participate in an interview session.

P-TECH is a nationally recognized program praised by industry leaders and regional partners. All costs are paid for by P-TECH and its component school districts, including tuition and books. Starting in Grade 9, there is a multi-year (grades 9-14) commitment from students and parents, leading to a NYS Regents Diploma and an Associate’s Degree in either: SMART Systems Technologies, Networking and Cybersecurity or Web and Mobile Development from Finger Lakes Community College. Along their journey, students explore career pathways and learn through personalized learning, problem-based learning, mentorships, and embedded job-training and work experiences.

We understand this is a big decision to make now, but we know the jobs of the future will be filled by graduates of P-TECH.
