Work Readiness Credential

This credential recognizes student’s preparation and skills for post-school employment. Effective transition planning and services for students with disabilities includes assessment described below.

  • A student’s needs, preferences, strengths and skills.
  • Realistic identification of post-secondary goals.
  • Development of an infrastructure to support instruction in the CDOS learning standards.
  • Participation in career exploration,  work and community-based learning experience.
  • Increased opportunities for students to earn a diploma.
  • Collaboration among regional partners responsible for the transition process and early referral to adult agencies.

Regents Endorsed Graduation Credential

The establishment of a Regents-endorsed graduation credential that recognizes the accomplishments of students emphasizes the importance of instruction for schools, helps focus student commitment to career exploration and development, and provides potential employers with documentation on which students are exiting school with demonstrated knowledge and experience for entry-level employment.

How do students develop Career Readiness and Social Skills?

Through individualized curriculum and work experiences students develop the skills necessary for successful employment post-graduation.  Students are supported in a variety of approved work-based learning experiences that allow real world skill application

Work Readiness Credential Requirements

  1. At least 216 documented hours of Career and Technical Education Coursework AND/OR Work-Based Learning Experiences.  A minimum of 54 hours MUST BE completed as Work-Based Learning Experiences.
  2. Completion of an annual Career Plan.
  3. Completion of an Employability Profile.  Students must exhibit mastery of the identified skill areas.
