Personalized Learning Conference 2020
The Wayne-Finger Lakes region is committed to student agency and empowerment. We believe that when districts work to create environments in which all students can succeed and thrive in school, we will have learners that are prepared for future success in college and career. Our third annual conference will focus on healthy empowered students and how we are leveraging personalization for all learners. The lenses of the conference will include:
- Personalizing through the Eyes of Students (student-led presentations)
- Personalizing for the Whole Child
- Personalizing the Instructional Cycle
- Personalizing through Flexible Content and Tools
We will tailor learning to students’ individual strengths, needs and interests while providing flexibility and supports to ensure mastery at the highest standards possible. This will be accomplished through using evidence to inform decisions, targeting instruction, leveraging the use of technology and empowering student ownership of their learning.
Wednesday, April 1, 2020
Day one of our event will feature national speaker and author, Thomas Murray. In his latest book, Personal & Authentic, Murray reveals the power of designing awe-inspiring experiences that are grounded in relationships and learner-centered by design. All conference participants will receive a copy of this book. In addition to Mr. Murray's keynote, the day will be filled with breakout sessions and opportunities to network with colleagues that are also dedicated to empowering all students.
Thursday, April 2, 2020
Day two will feature more breakout sessions led by educators from our region as well as a keynote by NYS Teacher of the Year, Rachel Murat. Murat is a high school social studies teacher at Maine Endwell High School in Endwell, NY. She believes that "Every voice in education matters and it is time that we amplified all voices." Ms. Murat was a past presenter at the W-FL Personalized Learning Conference and is excited to come back and speak to us all about her journey in empowering students.
*New this year, Day 2 will feature a block of student-led breakout sessions. Participants will learn directly from students about how they feel personalized learning is strengthening their educational journey and how their teachers have empowered them to take ownership of their learning.
