Our Tutors work with students (K-12) one-on-one when the student is not able to attend regular classes or for remedial help. Preferred applicants have a college degree or are currently attending.
Twenty one of our twenty five component school districts belong to the Tutoring Service. Applicants can choose which districts they want to be considered for and which subjects/grade levels they are able to tutor (see application). Successful applicants who are given multiple tutoring positions are those who indicate a wide range of grade/subjects and locations and who can exhibit competency in fulfilling student/school tasks. Specific guidelines give information on the responsibilities and expectations for our Tutors.Tutoring Guidelines

Participants will leave with their completed certificates.Scheduled dates and locations are no longer offered. Training will now be offered based on demand. Successful Substitute Teacher Training
Can You See Yourself in a Classroom? We Can! Substitute Teachers and other substitute staff are needed throughout Ontario, Wayne, Seneca and Yates Counties. As a sub, you choose the districts, days, and grade levels you prefer.
The W-FL BOCES Substitute Registry offers training to perspective substitutes who wish to work within our four-county region. (Substitutes are hired directly by the school district, therefore the qualifications and application process for that district must be followed).
This two-day, ten-hour training course covers information on school expectations, classroom procedures, behavior management, lesson plans and much more. Information on applications and fingerprinting requirements is also covered.
*This session will include information on day one for those who are also interested in Tutoring for WFLBOCES. Tutors are desperately needed in our region. Those interested in tutoring only are welcomed to attend the full day session, or both days.
Qualifications for school substitutes varies across the region from a high school diploma to college credit and or a degree or certification. Participants receive a certificate of completion for attending this course.
Attendance does not guarantee a job, but should increase your confidence and your chances in obtaining substitute work. It is recommended that you include a copy of this training certificate with your applications to school districts.
