Summer Advanced Manufacturing Experience
The Wayne-Finger Lakes BOCES, Finger Lakes Advanced Manufacturers' Enterprises (FAME) and Monroe Community College (MCC) partnered in July to provide 8th, 9th and 10th graders, the opportunity to experience first-hand advanced manufacturing skills while earning free college credits through MCC.
Students in the Summer Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering (SAME) program toured the following companies: Advanced Atomization Technologies, Global Packaging Systems; Harbec; Optimax Systems; OptiPro Systems; Progressive Machine and Design.
On July 23, students in the Summer Advanced Manufacturing Experience (SAME) met with Patrick Skrip and Earl Delong of Sheet Metal, Air, Rail and Transportation Workers (SMART) Local Union No. 46. Patrick Skrip presented on the advantages of joining local 46, including an apprenticeship and training program. Earl Delong then taught students how to create a copper flower.
